Grizz need depth at the 4 and haven't re-signed Green yet... Maybe a reunion with Gay could be great for all parties? Gay could get more than OKC offered, he could return to Memphis where he started and was loved, and he could be on a good team that needs his offense.

OKC could be a great suitor for Celtics players needing to be moved to make room for Hayward. OKC gets Smart, Boston gets 2nd rounder.

OKC could then look to round out the roster by finding suitors for Kanter and Singler in exchange for role players. I see Kanter fitting in Dallas spelling Dirk and playing next to Noel. I also see Kanter fitting in Charlotte next to Howard.

OKC gets Smart
Boston gets 2nd rounder (+room to sign Hayward)

then

OKC gets Wesley Matthews, Dwight Powell
Mavs get Enes Kanter, Kyle Singler
***OKC gets a guy who could fit well with Russ, George in Matthews and a reserve big. Mavs get a guy who fits with Noel and can spell Dirk. Singler could use a change of scenery but showed promise in Detroit.

or

OKC gets Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Cody Zeller
CHA gets Enes Kanter, Singler
***Thunder get more defense on the wings to try and matchup better with GS, plus get a good 2-way big on a better contract. Hornets have several solid bigs, but they all have similar skill-sets. Kanter offers something different. He fits well with Howard and would also fit well with Lamb. Singler could be depth or be flipped.

Thoughts?

Smart may have not developed into the impact player that the Celtics hoped he would be, but he's the 6th man on a 53-win team and he starts when Thomas is injured. To think that Boston would take a late second-rounder for him is beyond laughable.

By saying smart for a 2nd, your saying that no one would give the celtics more then that, which isn't true.

Supercollider and SimmonsOrBust:

I'm assuming you completely missed the of OKC grabbing George for Oladipo and Sabonis and no picks.

And you obviously missed numerous reports saying Gordon Hayward was signing with Boston. despite them not yet having sufficient room yet.

Point being: OKC is savvy in trades. AND OKC is one of the few teams with an exception equivalent to relieving the cap room necessary to bringing in Hayward. Boston still has Rozier to play behind IT. This deal makes sense.

Church -- Just because Boston has an adequate backup for Thomas doesn't mean the Celtics are going to basically give away Smart. I would move Smart for Sabonis, though.

Meant to add if OKC still had Sabonis. Stored too soon.

Not add sure why Boston would trade Smart, the 6th overall pick 2 years ago, for a second round pick. That's equivalent to nothing. Sorry, won't happen, whether they need the cap room or not. If you think OKC is savvy in trades. let me introduce you to Trader Danny. Lol.

No none of that was missed church.

Neither was okc giving away harden.

Here's the problem church: if Boston wanted to get under the cap without any return, they can waive Mickey and Jackson. They don't need to move one of their main rotation players if they don't get a decent return.

Sick of hearing about losing Harden.

We offered him the deal he wanted. He didn't accept because of his role. We in turn hit the phones. Called GSW first. They wouldn't give up Thompson. We called Wiz second. They wouldn't give up Beal. We called Houston third. We landed Martin (stop gap), Lamb (bust), and the pick that turned into Steven Adams. None are equivalent to Harden. Sure. But all that crap about not paying Harden is incorrect.

Bmiller66, they have to waive Mickey and Jackson, because thst does not get them the cap space to sign Hayward. They do néed to trade one of Crowder, Smart or Rozier. It's being reported that they are shopping Smart. Trader Danny won't take a bad deal.

smart is good (maybe also find 3rd team in smart deal to take abrines) but i think okc should keep kanter.
