I don't think this will happen or that the Thunder will end up trading Melo, but this could be interesting.

The Hornets get Melo(buyout)

The Thunder get Monk and Batum.

The Hornets want to save money and Batum's contract is awful. Especially for a team that's not going to be good.

Batum could give the Thunder what they wanted out of Melo and if Monk can figure it out, he could turn into the ideal shooting guard in that line up.

I like it for thunder but don't think they would pay the taxes.

ll, I agree. This gives them a player now and a player with a ton of upside though. That made me think that it could possibly make them think about it.

It's all about money. I can't see a deal out there, I think thunder are optimistic something will play out with a trade but it doesn't appear to be likely.
