Trade: Cleveland Cavaliers - Utah Jazz - New York Knicks

CLE get Carmelo Anthony, Shelvin Mack
UTA get Kevin Love
NYK get Derrick Favors, Alec Burks, Utah's 1st 2017 + a cap filler from the Cavs (James Jones? )

Say the Knicks really want to get rid of Melo and he would waive his No-trade clause, should Cleveland consider him, if they'd get a backup PG (Mack) with this, too? Maybe parting from Kevin Love wouldn't be such a bad idea after all, as he often was injured in the last games and when he played, was just not as effective as earlier this season.

I know, it's rather unlikely that the Cavs shake things up at this time, but maybe a player like Anthony could even be the key in winning another championship. He surely is not the player he used to be, but also not as bad as everybody currently seems to make him.

And at this rate I'd rather have a healthy Melo than an injured Love, also considering things like team spirit / integrity as I think he simply would fit better with the Cavs than Love does at present. Who on the other hand would fit perfectly with the Jazz, in my opinion. And having him maybe could be a reason for Gordon Hayward to resign next season with Utah.

Favors and Burks are both not where they used to before their injuries; minute- and ability wise. So trading them may make sense. Also for New York as they get two still relatively young players and a first rounder from Utah, though I'm not sure whether this already may be too much. Favors then could start at 5 with Porzingis at 4 or vice versa and Burks could come off the bench for Lee at 2 or maybe both at wing, as the SF-spot would be vacant, obviously.

Not a bad idea but how about Raul Neto to Cleveland in place of Shelvin Mack

Kevin Love would be a great fit in Utah but I fail to see how Melo is a better fit than Love in Cleveland. Love's back injury is nothing major and he posted one of his best games of the season yesterday so he is fine. I don't understand the team spirit/ integrity argument for Melo.

Ask Bosh and Love how hard it is adjusting from being a #1 option your entire career to the 3rd option that alone should deter Cavs from making a move for Melo this late in the season. Not to mention Melo isn't a better defender, rebounder or passer than Love.

He is a much more dynamic offensive force and better at creating his own shot but these aren't characteristics Cavs need from their 3rd option, Kyrie has proven to be the closer and he or Lebron can be playmakers. This doesn't even take into account the value.

Melo has very little trade value not only due to his age and his contract but with his no trade clause he would only go to a handful of teams. Therefore I don't think Melo is a good move for the present and future and I don't think Shelvin Mack changes that. Norris Cole or Mario Chalmers are similar caliber and can be picked up in FA. Cavs will likely have a lot of other potential names to sign once the buyout season is through (Deron Williams is a likely candidate and would be a solid backup) .

Basketball wise I think the trade would make a lot of sense if it was just between Jazz and Knicks with Jazz getting Melo who could play the 4 and provide insurance in case Hayward left but I can't imagine Melo waiving his no-trade clause to play in Utah.

@NBA I thought about that, but I think Raul Neto just wouldn't be good enough for the backup PG-position. There are probably better point guards in FA, which the Cavs could sign immediately instead of trading for Neto.

@Jaw457 What I meant with team spirit / integrity is, that I think Melo and Lebron simply would get well together - they're homies. Which you probably can't say about the relationship to Love, from what I've read. And I think that's a factor not to be undervalued, even if Melo might be worse than Love in all the points you mentioned. Like in last years olympics Anthony by far was not the best player on the team, but he was a mentor, a catalyst. Btw, I don't think Deron Williams is going to be bought out, as the Mavericks could get something back of value for him in a trade.

That's not enough for love.
