Why Lakers should they give away Ball and a first pick for Covington?

Because Ball isn’t very good, and if they are able to sign Kemba/ Jordan along with landing Covington, that pick would be in the 20’s.

I'm not a huge fan of Lonzo, but he's comparable to Covington. It definitely wouldn't take a first to swap the two.
Lonzo averages 10/ 5/ 5, 33% from 3, plays great D, and he's 21 and on a rookie deal.
Covington averages 13/ 5/ 1.5, 37% from 3, great D, 28 years old, on a cheap deal with 3 years left.
PER is similar, value over replacement, true shooting, win shares. All right at the same level.
If anything, Lonzo has slightly more value due to age.
