Spurs giving up way too much.

Depends on how bad they want Scoot Henderson. This deal is dependent on Charlotte drafting Miller with #2. Scoot Henderson would be the PG of the future for the Spurs. Who is getting too much, Blazers or Nets?

I think that giving up Keldon Johnson and taking back Ben Simmons are requirements for the Nets. McDermott and Graham make the numbers work. The picks are a guess. Lots of competition for Mikail Bridges so the Spurs have to be aggressive.

Portland is giving up Simons to compensate the Spurs for losing Johnson. The deal could work for Nurkic, but Simons is better, therefore, Portland gets a first. Maybe the seconds are too much.

Ben Simmons has negative value. The Nets would be lucky to find anyone to take him. They would also have to send at least 1-2 1st Rd picks just to get rid of him. If they traded Simmons and Bridges together, the other team shouldn't have to give up any picks, because the picks they would get for Bridges would be offset by offloading Simmons.

I would change it to this:

Portland: Bridges, 2025 1st Chicago, and the 2 2nds

Nets: Johnson, McDermott, and Graham

Spurs: 2023 1st (#3), Simmons, and Simons.

Simmons is negative value, but Simons and #3 is considerably way more value than what the Spurs give up.

I agree that it is a lot of value to give up on the Spurs side. But look at what they get. I did make a mistake though. Spurs have a pick swap with Atlanta in 2026, so they would not give up their 2026 pick to the Nets. They could take that out of the deal or give their 2025 or 2027 pick. Portland seems to be getting the short end of the deal IMO, but Lillard really wants Bridges.

WIN - WIN - WIN.

The Spurs are in a unique positon in that they can give up a good young player on a team friendly deal, serious cap relief, and future picks. They do this to get the PG of the future for Wemby. if they believe that Scoot Henderson is that PG.

@Warlock no guarantee Scoot will be there at 3.

I think the Spurs wanting to get Scoot was about filling thle at the PG position. However, trading Keldon Johnson to get Scoot just creates a new hole at the SF position that would have to be filled.

They have Branham, Wesley, Vassell that can all play 2 or 3.

Already had Vassell playing the SG. Branham and Wesley have nt shown themselves to be "starters".

They’re rookies lol. Branham averaged a solid 10/ 3/ 2 as a rookie, idk how that doesn’t show potential starter.

Fred,

I was thinking that the Spurs would start Sochan at SF with Collins, Wemby, Vassell, and Scoot. They get back Simons from Portland in this deal who can play SG/ SF. They should also re-sign Bates-Diop who can fill in at backup SF until they get an upgrade. They still have 33 and 44 in this draft and lots more future picks to get a SF. Not to mention they also get Ben Simmons (Who knows if he ever plays)
