id swap smart for lou or t. evans.
bos doesn't seem intent on keeping him so swapping him for a rental makes enough sense. either guy gives u an offensive upgrade but i'd prefer evans, offers more D of the 2 that you lose with smart. and smart is more valuable than a late first if the recipient exercised his restricted rights.

No from Clips, Williams is worth more than Smart right now. Add in a 2nd and that may entice the Clips to do it.

A deal would include more pieces.

Celtics would take Tyreke before Lou, Lou is a scorer but lacks being a defender. Rozier as a starter was incredible and now they know where the scoring as well as the defender is. Delayed signing of Monroe is to keep open that last roster spot for a trade.

Depending on how Monroe works out it could lead to a contract next season if it's a friendly short term deal.

Lou is leaps and bounds ahead on the scoring side of the ball than the entire Celtics team besides Irving. He can play system defense just fine. Not like the NBA plays man to man anymore. He is what they need. Can't keep next season. Probably.

I'd rather keep Smart in the fold. His defense will prove very valuable in the postseason, and he does have a knack for making a huge play in the clutch. Worst case scenario, he's playing D on the opponent's best player while the rest of the lineup is built for scoring. I'd rather use picks and end of the bench contracts to go get Tyreke. He's not going to be in Memphis next season, so they'll be more motivated to move him than the Clippers are to move Williams.

Also, I'm not sure what Doc being in LA has to do with trading Smart there. He was in LA when Smart was drafted.
