Sixers get: future highly protected 2nd
Bulls get: Bayless (1yr left at 9mill), and sixers own 2018 #1(pick 26).

Sixers clear 9 more million in cap room, allow them to go after LBJ.

Bulls gain another first round pick for their rebuild. Only on the hook for 1 year with bayless. Win/Win trade.
Sixers are on an amazing run, and to think they are the #3 seed and winners of 52 games was not even in anyones mind at the beginning of the season. Saying this, I am a firm believer that adding arguably the best player on the planet to ANY team will be a good thing. They will make the fit work with Simmons and LBJ. This is what "The Process" was all about. Getting the top picks, hoping one or two become all stars, and then being able to attract free agents.

This is reasonable, and continues to be a trend in the NBA. The fact that the Bulls only have to take on one year of Bayless, while teams like the Nets are taking on multi year deals is a win for them. Philly already has another 1st in the draft, so losing the least favourable one is no big deal.

2015: #3 Jahlil Okafor-Failure
2016: #1 Ben Simmons-Success
2017: #1 Markelle Fultz-To be determind

The fortunate thing about "the process' is it produced two top NBA talents, gave the team an identity and togetherness, made the sixers an actual destination that free agaents may be attracted too, and left the Sixers with huge cap room to possibly get another top player.

Expiring contracts only have value if you trade a longer term contract for it. They won’t get a second straight up for it. A team isn’t going well we want to spend 9 million for no reason. I mean. It’s expiring so yay.
