You always seem to forget, trading 101. If you're trading a star player, you want to trade him as far away as possible. The Pels do not want to have to play Davis 6 times a year or more. He will be sent to the East. Where they will see him twice.

Denver doesn't have a 2019 first rounder.

JoeB (for Boston I assume), why would the Pels care if he stays in the West if the plan is to rebuild with this trade?

Yes, if you’re planning on dealing an AD and then hoping to continue competing, I get your logic, but this is a team that’s out of the playoffs with AD on the team and is likely not a playoff contender after it for a while. Take the best package possible in this scenario, regardless of the conference it comes from.

@JoeB I've posted a few times that my preferred destination for Davis is Boston as long as the package includes Tatum. But distance and opposite conference are offset-able if the return is right. I'm just floating some trade ideas for teams not really considered front runners.

I agree with Triangle, JoeB. If you are a playoff team you send the star to the other conference so you don't play against him in the playoffs (see Spurs/ Leonard) . But if you are a lottery team, you take the best offer no matter where the star ends up (see Kings/ Cousins) . That is what added to made the Kyrie trade to Boston so unusual.

Then, imo, you guys no nothing about anything. Imagine e you're the Pels owner, Davis shows up to play them 3 or 4 times in your building and all the fans are cheering him on everytime he gets the ball. It's going to get to you. Wouldn't you rather only face him once?
Regardless, he will end up in the east. So all of your trades involving western teams are moot.

Ok joe. That’s a pretty foolish statement.

Cavs sent Irving to Boston

Harden went to Houston.

Paul went to the clippers. Then to Houston.

I can pretty solidly state you know nothing if you think a team won’t give a player to the same conference if it means a great return.

I think pelicans take the best 2019 first round pick they can get for davis and build around that and there pick. So Knicks are front runners to land him just my opinion. With those two picks they play together and build chemistry like jordan and pippen did.

Agree with II to a point. NO doesn't need the 2019 pick if they get a young talent like Tatum (+ the NO drafted player) to build around.

NO has to get at least one (but may walk away with both which would be ideal since the draft has become hit or miss) .

If AD goes to Boston We see him here once a year home

If he went to Denver we see him 1 or 2 times a year at home

Wow what a difference for a team that's going in rebuild.
