1.) 21 Sep 2023 14:01:38
Minnesota want no part of Harden.
2.) 26 Sep 2023 14:41:34
Agreed. The Wolves would never put a malcontent like Harden next to Ant. That’s beyond even the Gobert trade level of stupid.

I just can't see Miami getting both Dame and Nurkic. They barely have enough value to force the trade for Dame alone.

Heat get: Damian Lillard, Ben Simmons, '25 lottery-protected 1st (from OKC, via MIA)
Thunder get: Kyle Lowry, '26 unprotected 1st (via MIA)
Nets get: Tyler Herro, Caleb Martin, Davis Bertans
Trail Blazers get: Duncan Robinson, Victor Oladipo, Cam Thomas, Haywood Highsmith, '24, '28, & '30 unprotected 1sts (via MIA), '25 & '27 unprotected 1sts (from BKN, via PHX), '26 unprotected 2nd (from MIA, via LAL), rights to swap '25, '27, & '29 1sts (via MIA)
- Heat use Dame's request as leverage to keep Jovic & Jaquez Jr. out of the package. They take on a giant salary in Simmons, but nab their big fish and hope Ben rebounds with Heat culture.
- Thunder get a better pick from the Heat and get out from any of the Bertans' guaranteed money for next season, for their assistance in the Dame trade.
- Nets move off from Ben Simmons and get a dynamic young scorer in Tyler Herro, a very good role player in Martin & Bertans who's salary is only $5M guaranteed for the '24-'25 season. A rotation of Herro/Bridges/Johnson/Finney-Smith/Claxton with Dinwiddie/Walker/O'Neale/Martin/Sharpe coming off the bench is as good as they could ask for one year removed from the KD era.
- Blazers oblige with the Heat as they realize they are the only trade partner but nab five first round picks, multiple swaps, and cap flexibility in the process. Cam Thomas also would have a chance to showcase his skills and Robinson and Highsmith could wind up being valuable rotational pieces.

Dude, we already covered this. OKC gets Miami's 2026 unprotected first if it doesn't convey in 2025. There is absolutely no reason for them to take on Lowry's salary for literally nothing.
OKC's GM Sam Presti does not roll this way.

Heat get: Lillard, Nurkic, Bertans, '25 MIA 1st
76ers get: Herro,Robinson, Highsmith, Oladipo
Clips get: Harden, Tucker, House, '26 LAL 2nd
Thunder get: Lowry, '26 MIA 1st
Blazers get: Mann, Jaquez, '24, '28, & '30 MIA 1sts, '25, '27, & '29 MIA swaps, '28 LAC 1st, 4 expirings (Batum, Covington, Morris, Korkmaz)
Analysis:
Heat
* Get their big fish and manage to keep Caleb Martin and Nikola Jovic out of the deal by taking back salary.
76ers
* They trade a disgruntled Harden for a young dynamic scorer in Herro, keeping them competitive.
Clippers
* Add a third top 30 player into the mix with Kawhi & PG for a poo-poo plater of Mann, expirings, & a 1st.
Blazers
* Ultimately get cap relief (dumping Nurkic, taking back expirings), two young rotation pieces (Mann, Jaquez Jr.), and a stockpile of draft picks (four 1sts & 3 swaps) for their franchise guy who is 33 & doesn't want to wait around for a rebuilding era in Portland.
Thunder
* Get a more favorable pick from Miami in '26 as opposed to the protected pick in '25, and dump a very bad contract with Bertans in the process.
1.) 07 Sep 2023 15:13:21
Jovic has to be added too. Miami can’t keep either of their ok prospects and get Dame. Just not happening.
2.) 07 Sep 2023 21:24:40
OKC already gets Miami's 2026 unprotected first if the 2025 does not convey.
There is zero reason here for OKC to take on Lowry's contract.
3.) 08 Sep 2023 21:14:19
horrible return for Portland. Let's dispel this superficial gunk. Salary cap space is needed to prepare for valuable free agents and/ or resigning/ extending key players. As everyone says, in-demand free agents don't want to go to Portland and Scoot and Sharpe extensions/ resigning are a few years out. So little value of salary cap relief in '24 in a rebuild. Swaps going from top 5 teams to bottom five teams are worth zero. And 4 picks going 7 years into the future that will all be nearly second round picks? Oh yeah, and Portland needs front court players, not 3rd, 4th, 5th string shooting guards.

Lakers would be trading two unprotected first round picks as showed above, and Randle and Fournier are on long term deals. I can guarantee you the Knicks would much rather get rid of them then trading an Obi Toppin or Quentin Grimes or a third/ fourth unprotected first round pick to acquire Mitchell.

Forgot Ben Simmons too for Brooklyn.

This is a good trade.

You are insane to think Nurkic is getting $20-25M this off-season when only like 4 teams have the cap space to sign him to that. It’s gonna be closer to $12-18M starting salary and Ayton’s max starts at $30M. I agree you may rather just wanna sign him to the max but
1)they had a chance to give him the max last season after making the finals and passed
2) there seems to be some tension between Ayton and Monty/ Booker
Not saying he’s definitely leaving Phoenix but if he is disgruntled and wants out, getting a cheaper starting center in Nurkic plus a 3 and D guy in Josh Hart who averaged 20/ 5/ 4 on 50/ 37/ 77 splits in 13 games for Portland, seems like a great option to consider.

Vincent played well, but he isn’t something to scoff at when it means they can dump Robinson. As far as the Lakers, Randle and LeBron are redundant whereas Tobias will space the floor and not take touches away from the King. Also Tobias has two years left on his contract vs Randle’s four years.
