SAC - CHA - POR
Sacramento receives: Grant, Martin, Richards
Charlotte receives: Huerter
Portland receives: DeRozan
SAC depth:
Fox / Carter / McLaughlin
Monk / Ellis / Jones
Grant / Martin / McDermott
Murray / Lyles / Crowder
Sabonis / Richards / Len
CHA depth:
Ball / Mann / Micic / Smith
Green / Huerter / Curry
Miller / Jeffries
Bridges / G. Williams / Salaun
M. Williams / Diabate
POR depth:
Simons / Henderson / Banton
Sharpe / Thybulle / Rupert
DeRozan / Avdija
Camara / Murray / Walker
Ayton / Clingan / Williams / Reath
The Kings move Huerter to round out their bench and save enough money to absorb Grant's salary and barely avoid the luxury tax. Grant's ability to be a threat to shoot / drive from the perimeter should create more of an equal opportunity offense, and he is an improvement on defense over DeRozan.
The Hornets create a solid 3-man rotation at SG / SF with Miller, Green, and Huerter. They open up a roster spot for subsequent moves.
The Blazers move Grant's 4yr/$132m (safe to assume he picks up the player option) remaining contract for DeRozan's 3yr/$74m (3rd year partially guaranteed / $58m total guaranteed). With limited suitors for Grant, they may be willing to prioritize future flexibility first. DeRozan could have a positive impact on the young roster, or they could flip him in another trade.

I rather keep Walker.
2.) 29 Oct 2024 15:11:09
Maybe IND needs a 2nd from MIA, or even an additional 2nd from SAC. It's looking like it might be tough to fit Walker into the rotation - if they do trade him, targeting a Center would make sense with Turner / Jackson in the last year of their deals. And they still have Furphy to develop at SF.

SAC - DAL
Sacramento receives: Quentin Grimes
Dallas receives: Colby Jones
Sacramento could use another wing defender and Grimes is better suited to guard small forwards than Huerter or Ellis. They can use a trade exception from the Davion Mitchell trade to take on the extra salary while staying under the luxury tax.
Dallas just extended Hardy, while Grimes will be an RFA next summer. By doing this trade, Dallas is one small move away from getting just barely under the luxury tax. They can trade Dante Exum, a 2025 2nd (via DEN or PHI), and cash to a team that can absorb his salary. Both trades do not have to happen until the trade deadline.
SAC depth:
Fox / Monk / McLaughlin / Jones (2W)
Huerter / Ellis / Carter
DeRozan / Grimes / McDermott / Crawford (2W)
Murray / Lyles / Jones (2W)
Sabonis / Len / Robinson
DAL depth:
Doncic / Dinwiddie / Gortman (2W) / Williams (2W)
Irving / Hardy / Jones
Thompson / Marshall / Edwards (2W)
Washington / Kleber / Prosper / Morris
Lively / Gafford / Powell

San Antonio receives: Simons, Walker
Sacramento receives: Camara

Sharpe / Ellis / Rupert
Avdija / Johnson / Thybulle
Grant / Murray
Ayton / Clingan / Williams / Reath
San Antonio depth:
Simons / Paul / Wesley
Vassell / Castle / Branham
Barnes / Champagnie / Cissoko
Sochan / Walker / Mamukelashvili
Wembanyama / Collins / Bassey
Sacramento depth:

Huerter / Monk / Jones
DeRozan / Camara / McDaniels
Murray / Lyles
Sabonis / Len / Robinson

I don’t think I like any of this for Portland. I’d need at least two firsts. Even then, I don’t think I’d give up Camara for Ellis and a first.
2.) 30 Aug 2024 07:02:44
Why would portland do this?

Don't really care if you put Murray or Johnson as SF/ PF, the point would be to spread the floor for Fox + Monk as much as possible with more shooting. I'm completely comfortable with Ellis starting, but I think the starting spot may have been a factor in Monk agreeing to re-sign ahead of free agency.

Wright and Shamet are essentially expiring unless the Kings want to keep their bird rights. For this season they would just need to produce more than Davion Mitchell, which is not difficult. Grimes would be a more defensive minded replacement for Huerter. Without Huerter's contract on the books for next season, they may have a better chance of re-signing Monk in the offseason.

What if SAC adds a '25 POR 2nd?

Thought there was an exception for Holmes, looks like I was wrong though.
