Wolves S&T Malik Beasley (4/40) to the Magic for Aaron Gordon
03 Nov 2020 14:10:16
Timberwolves - Path to Competence
I've seen/created versions of these but combined, they can all help transform the roster to build depth and lead to a potential playoff spot with hope for the future.
Trade 1
Nets get Beal
Wizards get Dinwiddie, Allen, J Johnson, #1 pick (MIN), Brooklyn 2022 unprotected 1st
Wolves get LeVert and 9
Nets get their 3rd star.
Wizards get 3 young assets (including #1), an unprotected 1 and a useful expiring that could be moved near the deadline. Is this the best the Wizards can get? The Nuggets can top this but it's unclear if anyone would pay a price this high if the Wizards do decide to move Beal.
Wolves move down 8 spots and get 2 years of LeVert.
Trade 2
Assuming the Wolves land LeVert, they have the flexibility to deal Beasley. As I posted yesterday:
Magic get Malik Beasley (S&T - 4/40)
Wolves get Aaron Gordon
Magic trade from an area of strength and get a useful wing on a decent contract (assuming his market value is lower due to NBA economics and potential legal issue).
Wolves add needed depth to the frontcourt and add a player on the same timeline as LeVert (2 years left on the contract). Wolves are also renouncing the cap hold on Juancho as a result.
Trade 3
Draft day trade to move up from 17 to target a 3&D wing that better fits what the Wolves are trying to do.
Wolves offer #17 and Josh Okogie to San Antonio (11), Sacramento (12) or New Orleans (13).
For any of those teams, they'd move down a few spots if they aren't in love with their options while also adding a young wing on a rookie contract.
The Wolves do this trade to move up past Portland for Saddiq Bey.
Draft
Pick 9 - Devin Vassell (1st choice) or Patrick Williams (if Vassel is gone)
Pick 11/12/13 - Saddiq Bey
Post Draft Lineup
DLo/McLaughin
LeVert/Culver/Nowell
Vassell/Layman
Gordon/Bey/Vanderbilt
KAT/Reid
These trades add depth and competence to a roster that is sorely lacking in both... Thoughts?
1.) 03 Nov 2020 14:54:14
I think the Wizards would just rather take Levert
2.) 03 Nov 2020 15:15:11
If the Pels can't move up for Vassell, I could see them moving down to 17 if they thought Nesmith might still be there
3.) 03 Nov 2020 19:23:13
Very good, except I won’t let Hernangomez leave for nothing and I would take the big guy from Kansas with the second round pick,
4.) 04 Nov 2020 05:51:14
would beasley really want to go to orlando?
i guess its warmer than minnesota, but he will have other options i'd think.

Wolves S&T Malik Beasley (4/40) to the Magic for Aaron Gordon
1.) 02 Nov 2020 21:55:29
Toss is 17th pick.
2.) 03 Nov 2020 01:27:03
I guess it works if they draft Edwards, otherwise I’d rather have Beasley.
3.) 03 Nov 2020 01:34:05
I’m thinking 17 and Johnson’s expiring are all I’d give up for Gordon. I definitely wouldn’t do Beasley S&T and 17 (besides the fact you can’t even do a S&T in a trade that includes a pick) . Gordon has been an average player statistically his entire career and he is paid way more than average.

Wolves Moves
Wolves trade Okogie, James Johnson (exp) and #17
Magic trade Aaron Gordon
Next...
Wolves trade #1 and #33
Hornets trade #3 and Miles Bridges
With that, Wolves draft Okongwu to shore up their rim protection...
Team may still lack some shooting but you add a lot more talent and defensive potential.
DLo/McLaughlin
Beasley/Culver
Bridges/Layman
Gordon/Okongwu
Towns/Reid
1.) 30 Sep 2020 12:41:06
I'm not sure Minny wants Gordon, because of his lack of 3-pt shooting.
2.) 30 Sep 2020 14:47:01
I think Minny would balk at trading for Gordon due to defense more than shooting. Towns is a poor defender. Gordon is an average defender, but definitely not a rim protector. If you play Gordon at 4, Minnesota’s overall defense would be pretty terrible, with zero rim protection.
3.) 30 Sep 2020 17:39:23
I don’t think Gordon is worth #17 + a cheaper younger player. Gordon is statistically an average player or below by ws/ 48, PER and Net Rating for his career and 19/ 20. While those stats are less than perfect, collectively they point to an average player being paid more than average. #33 makes me even more skeptical.
I also don’t see Bridges as making up the difference between #3 and #1. He and Okogie are pretty similar by the same basket of stats I mentioned above.
If these are the best the Wolves can do, I think they keep their picks.
4.) 01 Oct 2020 03:24:20
Gordon’s poor three point shooting removes a lot of the space underneath that KAT creates, I might gamble the #17 on him, but I wouldn’t even include Okogie.
As for the Hornets deal, I think it’s not unreasonable, as long as CHA says they will use the first pick on Wiseman. If they won’t, I’d decline the deal.

Orlando - Andrew Wiggins
Minnesota - Aaron Gordon and Khem Birch
1.) 24 Jan 2020 14:46:57
I don't think Wiggins is the scorer Orlando needs.
2.) 24 Jan 2020 15:30:32
I take Gordon over Wiggens. Gordon is starting to play really good defense.
24 Aug 2021 18:04:22
No Hernangomez and they added Beverley.
23 Aug 2021 20:28:11
Why do the Wolves trade McDaniels for Quickley when they already have no F depth?
13 Nov 2020 12:59:19
Not close and no premium asset.
31 Oct 2020 11:50:42
Knocks give up too little and get too much. Wolves deal Okogie and #1 for Barrett? TOR deals Siakam and the best piece they get is #8?
30 Jan 2020 18:19:41
You want to put Towns back with Butler?
