Not really sure why the Wolves or Celtics do this.

So wrong.

Boston wants a star
stay failed to land Butler and Durant
They're gonne fail to land Westbrook
Maybe they can get Cousins or B Lopez
But in that case is CP3 not a bad option.

C: Olynyk
PF: Horford
SF: J Brown
SG: Bradley
PG: CP3
That team could make the eastern finals and challenge Cleveland.

Rubio is a good pointguard, but no team is going to offer much (injury prone and can't shoot and a load of other young pointguards )
The Nets pick is going to be high and can become the 1st pick

So all teams could become better.

cp3 on a non-expiring contract likely doesn't net that return. With an expiring contract, no chance.

Wolves want to make the playoffs this year, trading Rubio for a big man they don't need and a future draft pick doesn't help them do that at all.

And like hamburger said, CP3 is on an expiring contract and already 31, the Celtics wouldn't give up those guys for a guy who might not even be with them next year. The Celtics want a younger superstar who can help them conpete for many years.

Why would the wolves not do this though...?
You have Dunn to start right away which you want and all you trade is Rubio for a top 5 pick. I'm down.

And why do we want Dunn to start right away?

Starting a rookie point guard almost guarantees no playoffs.

And what if Dunn is a bust?

From the clippers side, NO. They would hang up. Rubio and Thomas are not anywhere to what CP3 offers them.

he spent 3 years in college and is ready to play.

First off Dunn is way more mature than a regular rookie because he stayed until his senior year. And second off the wolves are doing anything in the playoffs this year anyways. Most likely they would make 8th seed and get swept. So might as well get Dunn some time especially since Rubio is hurt a lot anyways

Doesn't matter how long Dunn played in college, almost no teams make the playoffs with a rookie PG. And Dunn could still bust and then the Wolves would be worse off than before. It won't hurt Dunn to play a year behind Rubio, much like the Hawks did with Teague and Schroeder

And the point of making the playoffs this year is to show free agents they actually are a team on the rise, and not just a bunch of hype.

Gpack.

Crowder is a solid wing at a great contract.

Thomas is an all star pg on a great contract.

Rubio is a pass first young pg on a great contract

We get it. Cp3 is the best pg ever. But seeing as he's old as hell and expiring. I'd go with that incredible return. Celtics say no in a heartbeat.
