If the deal WoJ reported is correct

Tortonto gets Green and Leonard

SA gets Derozan, Poeltl, and a protected 2019 1st

I really like it for Toronto. Clearly their team had a ceiling and they've given it time to work. Why not roll the dice? Getting Danny Green rather than Mills and keeping Siakam and Anunoby seems like pretty big wins as well.

For the Spurs, it's not a disaster. I'm not a Derozan fan, but if Kawhi is still injured Derozan could be the better of the two players this year.

Raptors will do a deal with one of the L. A. Teams before seasons end. Lost Poetl, saddled with the overpaid green for a season, and maybe lost a 1st. I'm sure they wished it was Lowry instead but let the rebuild begin. Leonard is reporting to usa ball. I assume he's healthy.

Kawhi has already stated he has no desire to play for Toronto. Well done, trade for a player who doesn't want to play for you, he sits out a year, and you lose him and everything you traded to get him.

This made it easier for Leonard to join the Lakers next year.

There is no way he's sitting out this year. What does he gain from sitting out? He'll play and probably walk at the end of the year, but who knows. We all assumed George was sure to leave OKC.

I thought George had a good shot at staying. He said he would consider it from day one of being traded out of indy.

He already made a statement in which he says he has no desire to play a single minute for Toronto. He previously said he would sit out the year and not risk injury if he wasn't traded to LA. Bad move on Toronto's part IMO.

Deng, hart, ball 2019 1st for Leonard.

Saying he doesn't want to play in Toronto isn't the same as saying he won't. The league and the Raptors aren't going to let him sit, if he has no medical excuse. I also can't see a 2nd trade coming unless things are going poorly around the deadline. On paper that teams a contender.

Who cares about the fans and contending, get assets from a guy who you know is going to leave makes the most sense. To me anyway.

I think if you add green and Leonard minus derozan raptors are favorites to beat Celtics in East. Toronto basically did this trade because they think there chances are better to win this year, I think it was worth it for them. But if Leonard leaves there rebuild will be a year or two behind then trading derozan to rebuild.

He can choose to sit out, no one can do anything about that. He just doesn't get paid and can't sign with another team until his contract is up.

I just looked it up and if Kawhi is healthy and doesn't play, the team could withhold pay, sue him for damages, and the NBA wouldn't count this season towards his contract commitment. Basically, if he ever wants to play basketball professionally again, he would have to play this year. I'd imagine with all of the control player have taken over the league, the NBA would want to make an example of Kawhi and I'm not sure players association would really be willing or able to do much for him.

I think it's definitely a shrewd move by Pop. He sends Leonard pretty much as far from LA as is humanly possible (yes it's closer than Boston or NY technically, but it's a different country), but puts him in a great situation to succeed. It's at the same time a jab at him, but if anyone ever questions him he can say he sent him to one of the best teams in the East for his own good.

@soxfan popovich lied like a rug during the little press conference. Popovich is a S. O. B. If I've ever seen one. Raved and complimented Leonard yet shipped him to Toronto and with signing on to a different team than he was traded to it will cost Leonard the most. Shrewd is polite. Popovich is a snake. The bible was pretty descriptive of the symbolism of what a snake represents.
