Interesting, not sure on this deal for ATL, but at least a reasonable enough value to consider it.

I don't trust Atlanta to do the right thing for their team. They're the Idiots that drafted and traded Doncic on draft night last year. If I owned the Hawks, I'd have fired every front office member that had a hand in that stupid decision. Lol.

JoeB i don't think it was that stupid of the Hawks. They traded down 2 spots from 3 to 5 and got another 1st round pick in the deal. Also i don't know where you have been but Young has had a great rookie season. He started out slow but ended very strong. Depending on who you ask he could be rookie of the year, but i do have doncic getting rookie of the year. But any way to sum it up they trade down 2 spots gave up rookie of the year for the close runner up rookie of the year while also gaining another 1st pick i don't think that's that bad of a deal.

I’d want Luka over Young and the extra pick, but seeing how good young can be on offense, it’s hard for me to criticize the trade.

Looking back, yeah, I’d take Doncic. But it’s not like young is a complete bust. Atlanta is in a good position.

I like the trade, I hate signing Cousins.

I swear you guys put no value on defense. That is all the playoffs are about. Who cares about the regular season if they completely change the way they play in the postseason? The regular season, and the stats from it VS the playoffs are like comparing 8th graders to college players. T. Young would have gotten destroyed, Doncic I think would be alright. Young is the Worst defender that starts NBA games at PG. I think Favors said it's really hard to hide poor defenders this season, and it was easier to do previously?

Young is also a rookie. Kanter, McCollum, and Lillard were all considered among the worst defenders at their position in the NBA for years. They have all improved dramatically. Defense is the one place that it is easy to improve if you put in the time.

Also, who knew that Doncic would be -this- good? Few were saying the Doncic would be a generational talent that you would be an idiot to pass on before or during the draft. Should Sacramento fire their front office for passing on Doncic too? Hindsight is 20/ 20. It's not like they traded Doncic and picked Darko. If you're going to fire your front office over taking a top 5 player in the draft class and getting an extra first in the process, you're undervaluing the volatility of the draft.

Also, it's funny that you quote a guy from a top 3 defensive team in the whole league that just got STOMPED by a team with a star that doesn't play great defense.

It was George that said it. I was incorrect about Favors. George would probably like to win sooner than 5 years or so until T. Young figures out defense if he ever does. Lots of guys stink at it, and remain avg players.

Young will get picked on, but can make up for it on the other end and it’s not like Doncic has the physical ability to be a high end defender. Young seems like a smart enough player to at least learn how to pick his spots, cause some chaos and be just bad rather than down right awful. Like was mentioned above there are plenty of guys who came in as awful defenders and became passable. Plus, there aren’t many pgs that are all that good in that end.

Same difference. Portland is full of guys that "couldn't make it past the first round because they don't play any defense". OKC is a top 5 defensive team this year, got dominated by the 16th ranked defense without their best defender.

The playoffs are about stars. Stars win. Defense helps a lot too, not undervaluing it, but it's not the #1 thing in the playoffs, else we'd see Utah and Memphis playing in the WCF.

How many guys contend for a ring in their first couple years in the league as a top 2 option? Lebron made the finals in his 4th year (missed the playoffs the first two) . Curry was season 5. Jordan's first ring was year 7.

When you use quotation marks its supposed to be a direct quote, or verbatim, not exaggerated loosely. Defense matters, and Utahs offense didn't show up, kind of like DEN's in their losses to the Spurs. You are overstating what I'm saying, and nothing will create a level playing field to develop conversation when your looking to 1-up people over a bruised ego. T. Young plays bad defense, and would not be a likely pairing with George because he needs his 7 years. Had the season been the playoffs, the divide between Doncic, and Young woukd have been even greater, and many saw Doncic as the best player in the draft. Rkenne_16 even mentioned it last year.
