Three team trade idea.

New York gets 1st overall pick
Memphis gets 8th overall pick
Minnesota gets Dillon Brooks, Brandon Clarke, and New York's 2021 1st round pick (top 3 protected, that turns into both Dallas 1st round picks if not conveyed) .

New York can take Ball to pair with Barrett
Memphis gets the chance to draft a star player
Minnesota gets two quality role players who should fit nicely in a lineup with Russell, Beasley, and Kat.

I think Memphis say no. Now, if it’s between them and Minny only, maybe they consider. A trade like this?

Mem get 1st pick, Johnson (exp)

Sorry carl. That pick does not get you 8 slots at the top of the draft. Probably got to toss in the Clippers as well as the 2021 pick to get near #1.

Clarke and Brooks are too much to give us for pick 8. Memphis would effectively deal both for the chance to land someone like Vasell (similar to Brooks), Topping (similar to Clarke) or Okoro. Maybe they deal one of them with a future protected pick, but not both.

I don't see many teams trying to move up in this draft as almost every player I've watched is going to take years to develop. It just doesn't appear to be a very good pool of talent. You can probably get just as good a player in the middle-bottom of the draft as you can at the top.
