With Memphis' playoff contention appearing to be over it's time to sell high on Gasol and get something for him

Memphis trade: Gasol

Cavs trade: Shumpert, Thompson, Zizic, Nets 1st, Cavs 1st

Memphis obtain a potential top 3 pick, coupled with their own pick to restart the franchise ( plus role players)

Cavs get a 4th all star to compete with the warriors in a spot in which they are weak in, plus with gasol's range, passing and defensive ability allows him to slide smoothly in with cavs.

I don't see the cavs trading the nets pick for anyone other then cousins or davis, and I highly doubt davis gets traded by nop .

I'd rather have gasol than cousins, considering their contracts. You don't trade the nets pick for an all star on an expiring deal.

I don't see them trading for Cousins. Then they would have Thomas, Cousins and James all free agents next year and all can leave and they get nothing.

In my opinion, Gasol is to old to give up the Brooklyn pick for. I don't see Memphis getting that kind of return for him from anyone. That's a better package than players like Butler, George and Cousins ended up netting. All 3 are better and younger players and two of them had 2 years left on their contract, which is what Gasol has left.

I agree with rkenne, giving up that pick is too much for a guy that has turned to the back half of his career. I think if you did that exact package without the Nets pick it would be good for both teams.

Yeah, maybe replace the Nets picks with a Cavs lottery protected 2021 pick, Triangle. Something like Tristan, Shumpert or Frye (Shumpert more useful, but Frye has the better contract) whichever Memphis preferred, then whoever Memphis prefers out of Osman, Zizic, or Felder, the Cavs 2018 pick and the Cavs 2021 pick lottery protected would probably be the best the Cavs would do.
